SAN GIOVANNI BATTISTA (Caravaggio)

John the baptist was the subject of eight paintings by the italian artist Caravaggio. Today I want to describe the version dated 1598 preserved in Toledo, Spain. In this painting Caravaggio represents John sitting on a red mantle, who holds a cross with his hand while he's looking at the lamb near him. Around the protagonist there are some vines and thornes to symbolize the wine used in the Last Dinner and also Jesus's passion. The story of John is told in the Gospels, he was the cousin of Jesus, (he baptised him) and his calling was to prepare the way for the Messiah's coming. Before this mission John was an outcast and lived in the desert. So for this reason Caravaggio represents him alone in the desert.

         World Fair Trade Organization

The World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), was created in 1989 and is a global association of 324 organizations in over 70 countries. Members are fair trade producer cooperative sand associations, export marketing companies, importers, retailers, national and regional fair trade networks. WFTO's mission is to improve the livelihoods and well being of disadvantaged producers by linking and promoting Fair Trade Organizations, and speaking out for greater justice in world trade.

WFTO activities are:

• Building trust in fair trade
• Speaking out for fair trade
• Providing networking opportunities
• Empowering the regions

In 2004 WFTO launched a fair trade certification scheme and mark. The FTO Mark identifies registered Fair Trade Organizations worldwide and guarantees that standards are being implemented regarding working conditions, wages, child labor and the environment. These standards are verified by self-assessment, mutual reviews and external verification. The FTO Mark is available to all WFTO members who meet the requirements of the WFTO Standards and Monitoring System and so far over 150 organizations have registered. The WFTO operates in five key regions: Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe and North America & Pacific Rim.

I believe that learning languages becomes very important also for the over 40s.

- As I see nowadays if you want to find a good job or to undertake an important career you have to speak more than one language. In fact the major part of the industries require linguistic competences, to be able to communicate with people around the world.

- Another important reason is to travel in other countries, having a good time with people of other cultures and appreciate their traditions.

To sum up learning a new language can be funny but especially very important because according to some surveys; jobs that require linguistic competences are the paidest.

                                       FAMOUS PERSON:Walt Disney

Walt Disney was a film producer and co-founder of the Walt Disney Company. He was an iconic figure in the twentieth century, with his staff he created famous cartoon characters, like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and others; he also created the successful Disney Theme Parks around the world. During his life he received 59 nomination for the Academy Awards, winning 22.

                                                                                                  

                                         BULLYING

For bullying means action taken by a person called "bully" against a weaker person, the victim.
According to the definitions given by researchers of this phenomenon, a person is subject of bullying when is exposed several time to offensive action, When this phenomenon happens on internet or by phone we are talking about cyberbullying. I think that this phenomenon depends on family situation, where parents are not intrested in their kids's growth.

                                  BIO-TERRORISM
Bill Gates said that the world could be in great danger from bio-terrorism. This virus made by terrorists could kill more than 30 million people in a year. He also said that world leaders are not prepareted for this and he asked for global "health security" to became a government discussion.

                             THE MANICIPLE'S TALE

In this tale, the host ask the chef to tell his story but he was drunk, so the economer will tell his story. Economer's story talks about an archer and his white talking crow. One day this crow after seeing the adultery of archer's wife, tells all to him, so the archer kills her but then he repents and accuse the crow. According to the story from that day the crows became black and began to croak.
